How to Unf#ck Yourself: A Guide For The Deeply Stuck
Updated September 2026
Dizziness for over four years. Not a cute metaphor.
I mean actual, constant spinning, 24/7, as if I were on a boat and the whole world around me was swaying. At the same time, it affected everything and I felt stuck in every part of my life.
What I learned is that stuckness is stuck energy, and it needs movement and presence. If that's where you are right now, I made Deeply Unstuck to keep you company in it.
I hit rock bottom more times than I can count.
Hope to despair and back again was a near-daily cycle.
I tried everything—from hard science to woo. Some things helped. Others didn’t. But what finally moved the needle was this:
I hit rock bottom more times than I can count. Hope to despair and back again was a near-daily cycle. I tried everything, from hard science to woo. Some things helped. Others didn't. But what finally moved the needle was this:
Stuckness = stuck energy.
You don't need to name it. You don't need a full backstory. You just need to get it moving.
Here's what worked for me. Not in perfect order.
Just puzzle pieces that slowly helped me find my way back.
11 Things That Helped Me Move Through The Stuckness
1. Locate the stuckness in your body.
Mine was in my head: it would go around and around and back all day long. It was always much worse at night, when I wasn't in motion.
I spent time with it daily. Sat with it. Let it shift. No fixing. Just presence.
Eventually, I realized it was a very young part of me, frozen in time and needing to be witnessed and loved, so she could unwind because she felt so unsafe. This whole experience has been a big lesson in surrendering, over and over.
2. Get the medical stuff out of the way
Do the tests. See the specialists. Rule out what you can. Don't let fear hijack your healing.
I know many people who are living with an undiagnosed condition. They just want to name what they have and take a pill, so that life can start over again. And I know and hear that frustration so well.
Sometimes the body is beyond a diagnosis, and learning to sit with the uncertainty and discomfort of not being able to resolve or control it is the lesson
3. Follow the flow
Where is energy actually moving in your life? Go there.
Sometimes the way out of the block is through a completely different doorway. There is always energy moving in some part of your life, and those are the breadcrumbs you need to follow religiously.
So if your health feels stuck, check where energy is flowing instead, maybe your love life or your work life, and follow that thread to see what surfaces.
4. Pay attention to what enters your field
Spirit speaks in passing conversations, random meetings, song lyrics, and random nudges.
If something showed up three times, I followed it. That was my way of saying: I’m listening.
I have prayed so many times for a breakthrough and healing. I have raged many times because I felt so let down.
The journey is really about surrendering again and again to how I want things to go. It's trusting that something bigger is at play and has my back, and that understanding might take a long time to surface, or might never fully come.
5. Do the scary things
Especially the ones you've been avoiding. Leave the routine. Travel. Say yes when your system wants to shut down. Shake up the known.
Disrupt the stuckness by trying things you wouldn't have dared before, especially the ideas that keep nudging you on repeat. What idea is on repeat that you think you don't have the time or skills for? Do that.
One of mine was to start a YouTube channel. I resisted that for so long.
6. Be patient
Some stuckness is ancient. It needs your love, not your urgency. You may cycle through it again and again. Let it be a spiral, not a failure.
You are excavating precious places that need your time and devotion. And you don't have to do it alone.
7. Move your body
Stuck energy needs motion. Dance. Walk. Shake. Breathe. Move like your life depends on it, because sometimes, your sanity does.
This was a big one for me, because I felt so much better in motion. Before the dizziness, I was a big fan of the Pilates reformer and attended classes daily. Very quickly, I had to give it up because it triggered the dizziness even more. My need for movement shifted toward yin yoga, to stay flexible and work the deep connective tissues, and toward walking. I understood my body needed time and presence, particularly when I was impatient and needing resolution NOW. I have felt betrayed by my body so many times. One of the yin yoga teachers I really like is Devi Daly Yoga.
8. Get the right support
For me, it was acupuncture, somatic trauma therapy, Quantum Touch, and upper cervical chiropractic care.
Find people who get you and your body, and who can hold you when you crash. Somatic trauma therapy was where that could happen for me. It is a body-centered form of psychotherapy that helps release stress, tension, and trauma stored in the nervous system and physical body.
9. Treat it like an initiation
Something old is dying. Something new is asking to come in. This isn't a breakdown. It's the dark before dawn. It's the beginning.
The dis-ease is the chrysalis transforming into a butterfly. If you can see it as the initiation, you will resist it less and transmute it into an empowering moment.
10. Make space
Physically and energetically. Declutter your home, your inbox, your identity. Let go of what no longer matches your becoming. Make room for the new you to land. Give away the old clothes and objects, and release the people who hold you in the past.
Do you need to move somewhere else? I found that I felt physically better when I was at the seaside. Although I couldn't move there, I decided to spend more time there.
What activities or ways of life no longer support you in this stage of your life? During this time, the one thing I have been consistently able to do is to drive. My husband only had to pick me up once because I was too dizzy. When I couldn’t watch screens anymore, the world of podcasts became my life line.
11. Act on the one-track-mind ideas
Mine was: Create an Oracle Deck.
I resisted for months because honestly I just didn’t have the energy to do anything. Then I finally said yes. That "yes" cracked something big open. It felt like the last four years had been leading up to this creation.
If you're in the thick of it and need something to hold onto while you wait for your own breakthrough, I made the Deeply Unstuck Subliminal Audio for exactly that season.
Final Thoughts
The thing you’re most afraid of might be the exact thing that sets you free.
"Everything you want is on the other side of fear." —George Addair
If you're deep in the middle of stuckness right now, I wrote this for you. You're not broken. You're transforming, deep in the birth canal.
A Postscript on Dizziness
The dizziness is still here. But we've made peace. It's become something like a guide, a very annoying but wise one. I know its patterns, its timetables. And I've gathered the tools to live alongside it. I stay open. I keep listening. I still try new things.
This strange, uninvited companion forced me to pause. To stop caretaking everyone else and put myself at the center of my life. It made me leave a job that drained me. It pushed me to examine every relationship and release the ones that weren't aligned.
I wrote more about that pattern, and about choosing surrender over resistance, in What If Your Symptoms Were Sacred Signals?
It taught me something radical: what matters is not whether something is productive, but whether it energizes me. Whether it wakes up my curiosity.
I still carry a quiet fear that the dizziness will never go away. That I'll fall back into the despair I once lived with. Maybe that'll happen. Maybe the dizziness will stay until the end.
Can I make it work? Probably.
Will I have bad days? Definitely.
But I'm no longer trying to outrun it. I'm walking with it, even though I have days when I truly hate it.
When I was ready to stop just coping and actually break out of what was keeping me small, that's what became Uncaged, a subliminal to help you break out of all the cages you are stuck in.
FAQs
Q: What does it mean when you feel stuck spiritually?
A: Feeling stuck spiritually often shows up as stagnant energy in the body, not just a mental block. It can appear as physical symptoms, repeated life patterns, or a sense of being frozen in time until the stuck energy is witnessed and allowed to move.
Q: Can stress or emotional blockages cause dizziness?
A: Chronic dizziness can have a stress or nervous-system component alongside any physical cause, which is why ruling out medical issues first matters. Many people find dizziness eases somewhat once they address underlying emotional stuckness, though it may not fully resolve.
Q: How do you get unstuck when nothing seems to work?
A: Getting unstuck usually isn't one fix but a combination: locating where the stuckness lives in the body, moving physically, following where energy is already flowing, and being willing to do the scary thing you've been avoiding.
Q: What is stuck energy in the body?
A: Stuck energy is the sensation of blocked life force in a specific area, often the head, chest, or gut, that correlates with feeling frozen in a life situation. It typically needs movement and presence rather than analysis to shift.
Q: Is it normal for a spiritual awakening to feel like a breakdown?
A: Yes, many people experience what looks like a breakdown as actually an initiation, where something old is ending to make room for something new. Treating the collapse as the beginning rather than the end changes how you move through it.
Q: Is there something that can help while I'm still stuck?
A: Yes. Deeply Unstuck was built specifically for the season before resolution, for witnessing what's frozen and grounding your nervous system while you wait. Once you're ready to actually break out of what's been keeping you small, Uncaged carries that momentum forward.
Q: What is Uncaged?
A: Uncaged is a subliminal built for the moment you're done coping and ready to actually break free, whether that's from a job, a relationship, a financial ceiling, or an old version of yourself. It's the natural next step once Deeply Unstuck has helped you find solid ground again.
